Alarm issue solved - updated on 09/30/09This area is intented to contain issues, tweaks, and fixes for Xcite3 and other cooked Wm6.5 ROMs.  It should also help in future releases.  Everything will be updated on the 1st post.

Important Notice:
Anyone who installed or have sp2 or sp3 cooked into the ROM should install WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp3-hotfix.cab. It corrected a registry setting to disable power off the device when WMP or other media player are running.  Optionally, you can install WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp3.1.cab.

Note to all cooks and chefs:  If you added Sp3.1 or any other advise from this post, please add a comment on your ROM page so that people don't need to repeat steps.

How to make your custom WM6.5 ROM as an everyday phone:
1. Install WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp3.1.cab  (before you install, make sure you remove previous sp1 or sp2 or sp3 and remove WMX WM6.5 Accelsensor Fix.cab. If you are no sure your rom has SP3.1 cooked in, install it anyway.)
Turn accelsensor on from Start - Settings - System (Note: I don't recommend having it enable.)
2. With the exception of Dark Wolf 23047 or later builds.  Do not use the native lockscreen unless you don't mind the 4 to 8 sec wake up delay from sleep.
      - Go to Start - Settings - Lock - Display tab - change the unlock display to "Windows Classic"
      - Use CERegEditor to remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch98 Keylock.exe
      - Install S2U2
3. If your start menu is on the top task bar, install Showcase1.01x_240x400.cab to replace the existing taskmanager and LGxButton.
If your start menu is on the bottom Tool Bar, install ShowcaseSuite-1.1.0.WMX_240x400.cab
This app really close open application when you click on the X plus it has other useful functions.
Don't forget to disable LGxButton from Start - Settings - System.
4. Choose to have phone dialer skin on or off.  I prefer it off because I can access contact list instantly and don't need to run contacts app.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin (0 is off and 1 is on)
5. Disable vertical and horizontal scroll bar by change value 13 to 0 at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE:cxVScr and cyVScr
6. Choose your own theme and done.  Check out my WM7.0 theme.

Why is SP3.1 better?
I noticed some of the tweaks I found previously on the net do not work or not as good as they claimed to be.  So I start from scratch and develope Sp3.1 completely base on the info from Microsoft, and of course, run thru. a few test of my own.  Result is a more stable and faster phone with more free RAM to go.

Original Known issue of Xcite3 ROM:
1. Alarm and notification not or stop working when running on battery.
2. Screen freeze with accelerometer on.
3. Lockscreen Caller ID shown as unknown caller once in a while!
4. Landscape start menu has 3 row icons.
5. Low memory (memory leak?).

Original Known issue of 23008 ROMs:
1. Alarm and notification not or stop working when running on battery.
2. Screen freeze with accelerometer on. (except Hydro 23008 Final because it already has most of the tweaks cooked in.)
3. Bluetooth BTTrayCe does not load correctly.  (Use optional step 2 as solution.)
4. Internet Sharing not working.  (cannot help because I don't have data plan.)
5. Low memory.

Tools required: CeRegeditor and Activesync (Winxp)
Read this http://www.lg-incite.com/lg-incite-tutorials/registry-edits/

Testing device Spec: LG Incite Xcite3 ROM + loaded with S2U2, Garmin XT, Coreplayer, Skyfire (new version now works), Speed for Need Undercover, Olive Tree BibleReader, Simple Timer by FannSoftware, Showcase TaskManger.

Limitation: No data plan and cannot test send MMS functions.  All internet related function are thru Wifi.

Before you start: Please backup your important data before tweaking as precaution. All CAB files can be uninstall and should be safe, but you never know what happen when 3rd party apps is added.

Solution Steps:
1. How to fix alarm or notification.
Install Voice Command No Startup.cab and done!
  Thanks to ErMs
Your last resort:
Plug phone in via USB to a computer. Make sure activesync is running. Launch CeRegeditor. Make the connect. Finally, hit soft reset from CeRegeditor, and before the screen is complete off, unplug the usb cable. The phone will reset and now the alarm works and screen will wake up. Alarm will continue to work even if you reset, poweroff, or charge it via a AC traveler. Alarm will stop working as soon as you plug it into a computer with activesync running. It might also stop working after installing a certain software. Simply repeat the above steps to bring to alarm back to life. Note: activesync via bluetooth will not disable alarm.

2. How to fix screen freeze.
Install WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp3.cab and reboot phone.
If you have already install tweak Sp1 or Sp2, best is to unstall them and install Sp3.
Tips:
Make sure you wait for the phone to be fully loaded (~30sec after today screen shows up) before rotating the phone.  Do not rotate screen while Internet Explorer is loading a page.  Do not rotate too many times at once if you are using bluetooth with activesync.[/size]

3. Caller ID unknown caller issue.  Do the follow.
      - Go to Start - Settings - Lock - Display tab - change the unlock display to "Windows Classic"
      - Use CERegEditor to remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init:Launch98 Keylock.exe
      - Install S2U2

4. How to get 5 row icons at landscape mode.
Install WMX Start Menu 5 Rows.cab

5. How to get more free RAM and speed up the Incite.
Just install the following (order does not matter):
WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp3.cab
WMX Icon Optimization Sp1.cab
WMX WM6.5 Lockscreen Sp1.cab (only for Xcite3 rom)

6. Optional Step 1 only for the hardcore:
You will also need to delete the following registries:
"HKLM\Software\ACCESS" />  (Netfront browser - optional)
"HKLM\Software\LGE\Qtv" />  (QTV)
"HKLM\Security\SoftwareDisable />  (Carrier Software Restriction - delete it at all cost)
"HKLM\Services\SoftwareDisable" />  (Carrier Software Restriction - delete it at all cost)

"HKLM\Security\WAP\PGList\www.wdsglobal.com/PPG" />  (WAP settiing - delete only if you use wifi excluseivly)
"HKLM\Software\LGE\Apps\InitApp\Launch:Launch01 " />  (LG Gesture Agent - already added into SP3)
"HKLM\Software\LGE\Apps\InitApp\Launch:Delay01" />  (LG Gesture Agent - already added into SP3)
"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DirectX\DirectShow\WMVDecoder" /> (Not compatible with Incite's ARM Processor)
"HKLM\Drivers\Display\Settings\EBI2" />  (Useless display setting)
"HKLM\Drivers\Display\Settings\ILCDC" />  (Useless display setting)
"HKLM\Drivers\Display\Settings\ILCDCgordon" />  (Useless display setting)
"HKLM\Comm\IrDA" /> (Infrared on the incite - where! - delete it, chefs)
"HKLM\Comm\Irsir" /> (Infrared on the incite - where! - delete it, chefs)
"HKLM\Comm\Irsir1" /> (Infrared on the incite - where! - delete it, chefs)

7. Optional Step 2:
Finally, remove all startup programs except BTTrayCE and MMSTranspot from the \windows\startup folder on the device.  If you don't use bluetooth, you remove BTTrayCE as well.  If you don't send MMS, delete MMSTranspot.  I moved them to Start Menu folder, so that I can launch it when need it.  To disable it, you will need to use Task Manager included in the Xcite3 rom.
Here how to remove startup programs:  Connect phone to Activsync, launch explore from activesync.  Look for Tools - Folder Options - click on View Tab - enable Show hidden files and folders - uncheck Hide protected operating system files.  Then, you should be able to browse the device and look for the windows folder.  Please make a copy of those shortcuts in case you want them back.

Don't forget to restart your device.

File Description:
WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp3.cab  Click here read more.
WMX WM6.5 Lockscreen Sp1.cab - Reduced frame rate and adjusted clock alignment and font size.
WMX Icon Optimization Sp1.cab - Reduce icons/image file size - In theory, this should reduce cpu and memory load.
WMX Shutdown No Animation.cab - Program created by Spocky and is already on the Xcite3 rom.  This CAB will enable it.  It does not affect lockscreen as ppl previously believe.
WMX Start Menu 5 Rows.cab - A simple change from 3 rows to 5 rows when rotated to landscape.

Obsolete File Description:
WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp1.cab - Performance tweaks, see Wm6.5 Reg Tweak Sp1.txt for detail.
WMX WM6.5 Tweaks Sp2.cab - See http://www.lg-incite.com/rom-dev-and-discussion/wm6-5-service-packs-and-performance-tweaks-xcite-3-rom/msg19715/#msg19715

Additional Tweaks: (I personal did not test these)
How to disable aGPS
- Use the CAB in http://www.lg-incite.com/lg-viewty-tips-and-tricks/disable-agps-on-the-incite-(not-a-joke)/
or change the following registry:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\GPSOneDevice
Set Fixmode to 0 (default = 2)

How to enable native VOIP
See http://www.lg-incite.com/rom-dev-and-discussion/wm6-5-service-packs-and-performance-tweaks-xcite-3-rom/msg21729/#msg21729

If anyone can create a remove registry CAB, please let me know.  I already have the code written, but for some reason, I cannot get my WinCE CAB Manager to work and I don't have VB.  I've also attached the code.

If you want to donate $, please send it the site admin, I think it's workingman, not really sure how?

Excellent work, e20140.  Looking forward to trying these out.  I also wanted to note that some of these tweaks may also work for other roms (even the official LG/AT&T releases), but as with all registry tweaks, backup before you start.

Added a "before you start" section, plus a bit more description.  Yes, most of these tweaks can apply to and turbo charge those 6.1 ROMs.  I would need someone to send me a copy of the 6.1 rom registry and need someone running 6.1 to test the result.   Because I am not going back to 6.1.  Grin

e, I don't think the actual rotation of phone has is causing the screen freezes. I have had it sitting flat on the table, and still freeze. I would be more inclined to agree with a statement you made relating it to bluetooth, but it is still an issue no matter how we figure it. I can be connected via MyMobiler when it freezes and it still works via MyMobiler. I can change screens, orientations and run apps just fine, but the phone screen stays frozen. Kinda leading me to think it is video driver

I hope to post a couple of cabs, maybe tomorrow, for icon row counts. Modded from themes posted on XDA forum, gives 4 rows for portrait and 6 for landscape. the cabs will offer different highlights for the icons selected. Just a different choice for the various tastes out there.

Phone freeze not caused by rotation seems to be related to 3rd party apps.  I've not experienced that with my current setup.  I know Youtube app will freeze the phone, so it's gone.  Activesync will occationally cause problem.  I am going to try MyMobiler to see what happen and let you know.  If you have any other apps, we can try those too. Don't forget some of the apps don't completely uninstall itself and cause problem later.  Currently, I don't have enough info to say what the root cause is. But it is safe to say accelerometer driver is one of the problem.  Video driver could be annother one.  I would wait for the final release of WM6.5.

If you or anyone else has tweaks or apps to share, please post and I can update the 1st post.  Screen shots will be nice too.

BTW, I have accelerometer turned off & use the camera button to flip screen. However I did notice that the dll still loads in devices. Do you think that stopping that would help? ever try? Not sure whether to suspend or unregister dll.

edit. guess fingers are going faster than brain. screen won't change without dll Embarrassed  duh. Well, I guess that would fix it though!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's because the phone isn't freezing, the screen isn't redrawing.  Next time you get a freeze, hold down the end/power key.  When you here the ding for the shutdown dialog, press the screen where the "Yes" button should be.  The phone is still fully functioning but the screen is "frozen."

Both phone freeze (just plain old windows feature!) and screen freeze exist.  When screen is frozen, it's more than that.  Simple test, assign a reset function/program to one of those hardware button and you will see none of those button works, and yet the only button works as you all know, the shutdown/end button.  I even tried screen refresh program with no help.

Let me look into it.  I think rotation and accel are 2 different functions, but I don't recall seeing them on the registry.

MrPhil101, here is my quick review of My Mobiler.  Great tool and fast explorer.  I love it, but it does give rise to new minor problems.  Your phone freeze could be caused by Remote.exe running on the background.  Let me know what you think.  Edit: It will freeze phone screen, big time!

Advantage:
Control phone, take screen shot, and very fast explorer via PC.

Limitation:
1. Hit the rotation button on the software and the Incite screen will freeze, not the same freeze, because all other phone functions including hardware buttons still work.  Anyway, don't hit the software rotation button; otherwise, reset!
2. Remote server run as process and not application, and it take up 829kb.  Not a problem, just remember to exit MyMobiler or MyExplorer via the icon tray.  Click Configure Mobile > Quit Mobile.  This will unload the remote server.  Then you can exit the software from your PC.
3. Defintely causes phone to freeze.

e20140 wanted to mention this.

another user discovered that his alarms stoped working when he disabled voice cmd, and they were fixed when he reenable them.
http://www.lg-incite.com/general-lg-viewty-discussion/alarm-clock-malfunction/msg18813/#msg18813
I have been thinking about the alarms/ notivication problem and it seems that they are related to a software not connecting to the hardwar (would be call a driver problem on a desktop) If that linkage occurres throught voice cmd then it makes sense that they would malfunction in the 3.5 roms since voice cmd was removed.

Another though I have been using "mortplayer's" alarm clock and it has work perfectly every time.  But I have never been able to get alarms to work before except through "mortplayer" (my first incite had a malfunction with voice cmd-would but with an error even after a hard reset) I have tried the included alarm and spoonalarms.

I've successfully tested Mortplayer after the phone enters suppend mode, when its locked and even charging all night, and as long as the app isn't closed, just minumized it goes off like a champ. Just like everything else in Mortplayer it is completely customizable.
