Hello,
I'm new on here and I've printed off so much info, thanks!!!....I've looked through threads for my issue and can't seem to find what I need, I think they've been addressed but the people are already way more advanced with their phone then me, I just got this phone and just used to downloading a tune and putting it as a ringtone and it all be good. This phone is being that easy for me. So here goes:

 I have 2 issues.

 First is my Sounds (Ring)
I go to Sounds and my Ring Type: Ring
then my Ring Tone: when I pick one of mine (which were downloaded from AT&T for my phone) a box comes up and says: Error Unauthorized application and cannot use this file.
When you tap the ok then this box comes up :
Ring Tone Error. This ring tone file is corrupted and unavailable. Please choose a different ring tone.
Then just goes back to a ring tone that came with the phone.  Plus all my ring tones that I downloaded are in there twice.

 Now my second issue:
When choosing a ringtone for someone it also comes up:
Error Unauthorized application and cannot use this file.
But it will take it, but most of the time it doesn't play correctly. It will start quit start quit....kind of  like it's skipping.
I really like this phone once I learned how to turn off the 3G (from on here) and not be charged, I wanted the WIFI but don't use the internet enough to justify buying the internet from AT&T, so the wifi is great. Now if I can just get my ringtones....

So if someone can help walk me through this it would be awesome and very much appreciated!!
Thanks, Rhonda

I haven't installed anything other then what came with the phone, I haven't even figured how to sync it up to my computer yet, LOL!!! I did put a SD card in it, I saved my ringtones on it, so I wouldn't loose them. I hate having to buy new ones everytime you get a different phone. This is the first phone I've had with that. The only thing I've really done was disable like the G3 so I could use the WIFI and not get charged. Let me know and how if there is certain things you want me to look up...

is this phone a refurb? if it is, when you take it out of the box and turned it on for the first time, did it prompt you to calibrate the screen?

since you haven't installed any programs nor you have tweaked the phone yet, go ahead and do a "clear storage" ... start/settings/system/clear storage and start fresh from the beginning and let's see how it goes.  while in clear storage, it may ask you for a password, it's 1234. (or 12345, either one, can't remember)

also, keep in mind that your ringtones (mp3) have to be less than 300 kb unless you modify the registry to set that limit higher.  plus, if the ringtones are in the microSD card, create a folder called "My Ringtones" (no quotes) in the root of the card and put all the mp3's (ringtones) there.

No it's not refurbished, it's band new....

I did the Clear Storage. And it's all reset. Ok now for the stupid question, how do I make a new folder and where should I put it for the ringtones. The biggest ringtone is only 123k. They are ringtones bought from AT&T. I haven't a clue how to make my own or copy any. So no these are ones that I purchased and had sent to my phone. And I made sure they were for my phone. But now I don't know how to get them to a new folder to get them to come up for a ring tone. Sorry to be complicated Sad

For anyone interested I did find the reason this was happening, I guess the tones that AT&T are selling are MP4....the Incite is set up for MP3. So I have to make my own or be sure I'm downloading MP3. What's weird is allot of the tones at AT&T it would say not compatible...It's just aggravating that you pay for the tones and they don't even work with the phone. I'm going to call or email them and ask about it. They should refund a persons money for that. I know they probably won't but gonna try.....I found some threads over on the AT&T forum with the same exact issues and that is what they found out. So thought you all would want to know in case you hear of it again.
Thanks, Rhonda

plz, do yourself a big favor and do not buy ringtones, especially from att. try going to http://www.zedge.net or do a web search for them. there are more out there for free then you could ever want. If you don't know how to change the registry to allow for large ones, keep them below 300k. If you need help getting them to your phone after you download them, repost, or pm me and we members/I will help. Same goes for wallpapers, do not pay for them.

edit to correct link.

I got this off of one of the links that I went too.....if you've downloaded ringtones and don't want to hassle with trying to get your money back....it converts the ones you have to MP3 and very easy to use!! I have a USB T-Flash Card Reader for my SD card, I just put it in that put it in my computer and after I downloaded this program just go to it and converted the files and saved it right back on the SD card. Put it back in the phone and copied them into my Ringtone folder and was done!! They work fine now it seems!!! Here is the link (try copy and paste):
http://www.nch.com.au/switch/mp3.html?gclid=COjc48qZu5sCFc5L5QodXVkxAg

It's called Switch Sounbd File Converter, there is a free version and that is what I used.

I'm still going to try my hand at doing my own...but least I can use the ones I bought now. Going to check out some of the ones you all posted too...THANKS!!!

 Thanks!!!!! Rhonda
