Alright I am giving this a go, or should I say Igo yuck yuck Tongue

I'm off to New Hampshire from Massachusetts will post my results when I get back.

One question if anyone knows. I just downloaded the New England States.
NH,VT,MA,ME,CT,RI ...will these include the 3d Building views, and road signs.

Also do I need to enable GPS Gate everytime I use Igo?

I'm sure I will find out.

Yea, you have to start GPS gate everytime. As far as the buildings go, i think so, but if you followed the directions just right, they should be there. I have yet to see any buildings, but i havent used it were there are any major ones..lol, damn Texas doesnt have any close to me...unless i drive to Dallas or something. I like it but i have to clear some memory sometimes or it freezes for me. I think i still like Garmin better, but some of the information on Igo8  as you are navigating is better. Good luck..please report back, like to know how it worked! Grin

No, you don't have to (I'm not sure why everyone says so, i haven't found an gps app yet, that requires gpsgate). I'm on 6.5 now, but I don't remember having to use GPSGate with 6.1 either.

What Port and Baud do you have set up? I couldn't get it to find any of mine without GPSGate, even on "Auto" setup.

There are two ways Smiley You can either:

Set the virtual port in "settings - system - external gps - programs" to com4. This enables the gps for programs that do not support the virtual gps port. That's what I do to get for example TomTom to work.

Or for iGo: adding the following to the sys.txt

Code:
[gps]
source="virtserial"

should be enough for autodetect to work
(or you can manual set to com4 if the gps port was set in the previous step)

Well, heres a short trip result and some advice. First don't start Gps gate and hit the online button located at the top of the menu . If you do This will set a link for gps gates server.
And your phone will be driving you crazy trying to dial out every minute.  Grin

If you happen to do this....DOH!
You need to open gps gate hit the Setting then go to the output tab at the top then you will see in active output the online link. You can Delete that Wink

iGO 8.3.1 NORTH AMERICA CONTENT would be a good Google search for POI's , Maps, and Buildings. There is also .dem files (Digital Elevation Model)

My driving results for this...short trip...first trip.
The voices sound like office workers. Very Clear, and easily heard.
Some of the roads were outdated. Lots of views with different perspectives.
I like the fact that I can switch map files easily. Quick, and Painless.

I have Garmin, Still, when I started Garmin...Gps gate automaticly change the setting for me.
Think I'll leave the Gate it keeps my Gps Active alway's unless I reset.
Havn't notice a huge battery drain.

So far it seems static... It does begin with "I"

Sweet, I'll try this later to verify =D I'd LOVE to not need GPSGate!

whats Incite GDI mode fix ?

Read the included SYS.txt file in the download, in it, there are 2 lines for iGO that set the standard rendering to GDI.

First I want to say thanks for program

Now only way that I start this program is to Start, Programs, Tools, File Explorer,(Goto my storage card and open iGO08) and run the program from there.   How do you start the program?

And if I'm using the program, and if I get a phone call, I loose the iGO and then I have to restart the iGo program

What a GREAT phone.  :-)

Don't blame the phone, the program wasn't made for it. It's been modified. ;]

I'll try to include the autostarter/installer soon, but since I have Garmin XT set to autoinstall (you can't have both), I didn't include it.

It's the same as the one for Garmin, put the 2577 (or whatever the number is) folder in the root of your SD card and it'll install. I'll snag the folder soon.

So back from my trip... Seems to work well. Uninstalled GPS gate. Works fine.
Set the com port to com 4. Worked with Garmin also using the serial port com4:com4

Results of drive. Froze a couple times and had lag. no different than Garmin. Many view options just needed to learn the program. Went through Boston and it showed 3d buildings nothing special kinda new to me.

Was very accurate when it was on the highway showing exit signs and route details.

I'll keep it for a alternative over Garmin. Garmin is simple to use with more finger friendly controls. Igo has more realistic views less cartoon than Garmin.
 Both have there own +'s
 Igo works well.
Same battery drains.

It's a matter of preference

Oh no, I don't blame the phone,  I'm just amaze at all the stuff it could do.  I have a Garmin iQUE M5 which is a GPS and Pocket PC.  Driving the same route, the iGo software recalculates a lot faster than the Garmin.

Also if I'm using the Incite as a GPS, I just go in the Wireless Manager and turn the phone off.

Again   Thank you  :-)

I recieved calls while using Igo no problem when I hung up it went right back to the program no restart just picked up where it left off.

Create a shortcut to the Window\Start Menu\Programs folder use file explorer on your phone to create the shortcut.
