I got monkeys in me!!

**~NOTE: Currently, this is for Windows XP ONLY! Vista users please be patient.~**

Ok, so there was a thread on here about the beta software from LG that lets you update your phone. Well, as it is, the software has some issues that I have found a way around.

You will need three things.
1. Download the beta software from LG here: http://www.lge.com/us/mobile-phones/beta-program.jsp
2. Download the usb modem driver here: http://www.mediafire.com/?zzvmalynmmm (thank you spocky for the upload)
2. Download V10I_00.exe: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nf3mzyu32tw

The file below is the official ROM update from LG. It will update the ROM version, the bootloader, and the modem firmware. It is, however, the same build number of WinMo 6.1.

Install the update software to your PC like normal.
Install the usb modem driver.
Backup anything important becuase this will wipe your phone.
Plug the usb cable into the PC.
Power off your phone and enter Emergency Download mode by holding down [Vol Down + Lock] and insert the usb cable.
Double-Click the file V10I_00.exe and it will self-extract. Once it is done, it will open the update utility.
Click "update" and it will take care of the rest.
Your phone will restart and will go straight to charging since it is plugged in. (the Incite has always done this)
Just hit the power button and it will continue booting.

You are done!
Just go through the normal Windows Setup hooplah and then restore your personal data.

I have not noticed anything spectacular the update. It does seem faster, but it could just be because it was wiped clean. So this is completely up to you if you want to do this or not. It could be good as a little practice flashing your phone before cooked ROMs start popping up.

CAUTION: any time you flash your phone, you run the risk of bricking your phone. I will not be liable.

For now, that is the only base ROM we will get. It is an official release from LG so it should be kosher.

No, as of right now, LG is not supporting it. I believe that it is a fluke that it is even in the update utility.

teo, 2 questions:

first, with this done, are we in the right direction to start seeing cooked rom's? i was reading the thread on xda forum, the one with the topic "Calling all incite users...." and spocky mentioned:

There won't be any cooked rom without at least :
1- CT810 Modem driver (can't flash without it)
2- An official DZ rom file (a dump is not sufficient unless you don't fear to brick your phone)

so, do they now got what they needed?

second, this is an official ROM from LG, not the original but still OFFICIAL.  which means, if LATER i install a cooked rom (unofficial) i can still go back to this one, right?

I am about to get a warranty replacement so I decided to be the guinea pig for everyone.  Grin

We were in the right direction a couple days ago, a kitchen is being worked on and the files are being examined. It's only a matter of time now.

Yes it is an OFFICIAL rom from LG. If you flash to a cooked rom, you can go back to this one for warranty purposes since it does include all of the ATT software.

So is there anything different in this? No bloatware? less memory wasted, etc?
